Job Title: Director of Sabbatical Program for Teachers

Overview of Position: 

The Director of the Sabbatical year education initiative is responsible for overseeing and implementing a comprehensive eight month program focused on enhancing the professional development of Israeli teachers in their sabbatical year, empowering them and exposing them to best practices in education, change management, research and innovation in the field of education. This initiative is part of the foundation's broader efforts to support educational advancement and excellence. The Director of this program will work directly with Tamar Krieger, the Executive Director of Tzemach David, and will collaborate with various stakeholders, including educators, administrators, and innovative partners, to design and deliver high-quality professional development opportunities.

 

This will be a part time flexible position (approx 2 days a week)  for the Spring of 2024 year and will increase as the project develops and the program becomes active. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Program Development and Management:

    • Develop and implement a strategic plan for the professional development initiative, aligning it with the foundation's goals and priorities.

    • Design and curate a range of professional development programs and resources for teachers, addressing key areas such as instructional strategies, assessment techniques, classroom management, and educational technology integration. In addition, exposing these teachers on how to be teacher leaders and create change within their school environment. 

    • Collaborate with subject matter experts, consultants, and educational professionals to develop relevant and engaging content for professional development workshops, seminars, webinars, and online courses.

    • Manage the program budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to maximize impact and reach.

  2. Partnership Building and Collaboration:

    • Forge partnerships with educational institutions, innovative institutions, and other organizations to enhance the reach and effectiveness of the professional development initiative.

    • Collaborate with school administrators and educators to understand their professional development needs and tailor programs accordingly.

    • Coordinate with external trainers and facilitators to deliver high-quality workshops and training sessions.

    • Establish relationships with local and national educational associations to promote the initiative and seek opportunities for collaboration.

    • Recruit top applicants to apply to the program and or be nominated by others. 

    • Foster a collaborative high level cohort of learning, doing, and networking. 

    • Evaluation and Impact Assessment:

    • Develop and implement evaluation frameworks to assess the impact and effectiveness of the professional development programs.

    • Collect and analyze data to measure the outcomes and make data-driven decisions for program improvement.

    • Solicit feedback from participants and stakeholders to continuously refine and enhance the professional development offerings.

    • Prepare regular reports on program achievements, challenges, and recommendations for the foundation's leadership.

    • Communication and Advocacy:

    • Develop a communication strategy to promote the professional development initiative and its impact to internal and external stakeholders.

    • Collaborate with the foundation's communications team to create engaging content, including blog posts, articles, and social media updates.

    • Represent the foundation at conferences, seminars, and other educational events to advocate for the importance of professional development for teachers.

Qualifications:

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present ideas effectively to diverse audiences in both Hebrew and English

A master’'s degree in education, instructional design, or a related field.

Real knowledge and experience in the Israeli education system. 

Strong understanding of pedagogical principles and best practices in K-12 education.

Experience in developing and delivering professional development programs for educators.

Excellent project management skills, including the ability to plan, implement, and evaluate initiatives.

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain partnerships with educational stakeholders.

Proficiency in using technology tools and platforms for instructional purposes.

Knowledge of current trends and advancements in education, including educational technology and curriculum development.
