Israeli Education Immersion Program for Teachers

Goals of Program: 

We have defined several challenges for olim teachers to enter the Israeli system: 

1. Language

2. Cultural Differences

3. Changing over Degree

This program will satisfy all of those challenges in the following way… 

1. Ulpan for Educators: Private ulpan classes (separate men/women) will be provided in groups of maximum participants with appropriately selected teachers and texts.

2. Israeli Immersion education – 

   1. Weekly speakers every Wednesday 1:30-3 pm exposing Anglo educators to Israeli pedagogy, modern techniques of education, and exposure to Israeli elementary and high schools.

   2. Field trips will be provided once a month

   3. Seminars: Ms. Tamar Krieger will lead seminars (2x a year?) training these educators in better understanding the Israeli education system. 

3. We will help (both bureaucratically and financially)  transfer the foreign degree to an Israeli educational accredited college 

4. Participation in chavruta with program with students in the Israeli system 

5. Assistance with placement in the system 

Teachers who go through all of the elements will receive a 500 nis stipend for the month and will commit to teach in the system for at least 2 years.
